I can't believe it. 5! Doesn't that sound so "big girl"? Wasn't it just yesterday she was wobbling around with a little sprout on the top of her head? That was (like) yesterday! Now she is FIVE! Blessed for the five years for they have been beyond our wildest dreams. And on this day, FIVE years ago, I had NO idea the person we were bringing into our home. The sarcastic, funny, vibrant, smart, sensitive, and meticulous little creature. A girl who would eventually put 900 barretts in my hair as we compare pretty dresses on the Oscar's red carpet. A girl who thrives on learning, asks a million questions, and who recently has decided she wants to be a ballerina dentist... and yes, she brushes her teeth many times a day. I told her being a dentist would be a great side-job if she is going to be a ballerina (because who knows how much they get paid!). She asked me once what a cavity was. I told her it's a little hole in your tooth caused by sugar and not enough brushing. She started by saying she was NEVER going to eat sugar again, and then quickly changed her mind.. but decided brushing profusely would be a good compromise. And last week when she had a dentist appointment, she was FULL of questions for both the hygienist and dentist. So, don't think ballerina dentist is a whim... it's fully researched and debated and certain at this point.
My five year old watched American Idol results show with me and was sad... she said, "Well, looks like another person is going home to cry"
My five year old spent more time getting ready today - you would have thought she was meeting the president. She put on all her jewelry (including her new coveted fairy necklace - Thanks Boo and Frank!), dressed in her best clothes, and wet her hair until it stops "flipping out". She told me that Jesus told her "the sooner you wear ugly clothes, the sooner you get ugly". Sounds like something Jesus would say, right?
My FIVE year old has been counting down the days until today. And on Sunday, we are having a princess ballet party. We should have called it a Dentist Ballet party, but.. well, then we might not get to have cake!
Happy Birthday to our Sweet Macie. Macie who enhances every day of this life. We are so blessed.
