History Lesson:
Maxwell House Coffees began in Nashville in the early 1900's, and was marketed in Nashville's most famous hotel (now a little sketchy, I should know since I stayed there - Millenium Maxwell Hotel). The Cheek family was an integral part of launching this infamous coffee brand. Cousin Joel started it, and the Cheek father and son invested... later selling it for $40 million. What would you do with $40 million? Would you hire a residential and landscape architect from New York - give the guy complete control over building your estate? That might turn out to be a good idea! He might create gardens that become historic to the city, and build you a limestone mansion that will take your breath away!
That's what happened to the Cheek family. In the 1960's, the Cheek family offered their estate to be a botanical garden and museum in Nashville. I cannot even fathom living the way they did.
Cheekwood botanical gardens is amazing. Right now, a famous glass blower is displaying his craft throughout the gardens and the mansion and they GLOW at night. It's awesome.
The Barefoot Contessa (aka Eric) packed us an awesome picnic for our Chihuly Nights at Cheekwood.
A nice healthy, non-alcoholic CHEERS!
He even packed popsicles for us on ice.

Ever since Eric turned 30, he's been wanting to prove that he still "has it". Here he shows me how high he can jump.
Macie got lost in the roses... a little Waldo'esque as she her flower headband blends in with the real flowers.
This was a stand alone frame. We stood on the opposite side, and wha-la! A framed photo.
Fun stuff. I think making Eric watch the Bachelorette with me is paying off...the night kind of felt like a Bachelorette date... a few things different -like, I am already carrying his child, we have a rambuctious 3-year old to keep up with, and we got to the park via car vs. helicopter- but everything else was practically the same :-)
